Performance Update!

We’re getting ready here for our final dress rehearsal and I have to say that I think we’ve got a wonderful cast. Ariadne auf Naxos is extremely sophisticated. It takes singers who are not only smart but also very accomplished and talented. Strauss really pushes all the ‘buttons” in terms of ensemble and solo singing. Thankfully we’ve got a “maestro” guiding us in Michael Morgan. He’s getting an amazing sound from the chamber orchestra and has been wonderfully supportive of us singers.

I listed the entire cast in a previous blog entry, but here’s a photo of me with Ariadne’s Othalie Graham. Like I said, each one of them is special and very integral to the success of the piece. I’m proud to be a member of the Robert Mirshak Artists Management crew that’s on this production. This is my first time singing with two Mirshak artists, Kirk Eichelberger and Sara Duchovnay. Kirk is singing the Music Master and Sara is playing Naiad. Both artists are simply fantastic and it’s an honor to share the stage with them!

Other standouts in the cast include Catherine Martin as the Composer. Catherine does a superb job with the impossibly difficult role, and, as Zerbinetta (another notoriously difficult role), Shawnette Sulker is the real deal! Unbelievable!

In fact, like I said, there’s not a weak link in this cast, and, they are ALL so nice to work with too. It’s been a dream.

On my way to the final dress rehearsal!

More soon!!
